About Oakleigh Road Health Centre

Practice history and evolution

Oakleigh Road Health Centre

was established half a century ago, initially by the late Dr B Howells and Dr Maxwell. Over the years we have had many excellent doctors join the team who have left their award winning legacy including Dr Kim Lumley, Dr Jane Howells and Dr Dan Free as they have moved on.

Our key values of patient focused, community-centred, continuity of care remain instilled for what we aim for today.

We have grown to a team of 8 regular Doctors, 2 practice nurses,  our practice pharmacist  as well as internal specialists.

We remain “NHS Fit for the future” as we embrace care models aiming to further enhance convenience to our patients.

We value the next generation. We are a long established teaching practice for Doctors and nurses in training, as we pride ourselves on providing a nurturing educational space for learners and patients.

Our practice is also part of a network of 12 local practices who have decided to work together to provide a continued  offer of evening and weekend appointments with GPs and nurses.  We are known as a Barnet primary care network 2.  Our network also includes access to  back pain specialist, physiotherapy, phlebotomy (blood test), mental health support,  menopause clinics, diabetes specialist,  pharmacist medication specialist, and social prescribers. These can all be accessed through the practice.
