Appointments

To get the most from your practice when booking an appointment we will ask you for some details, this ensures your encounter is appropriately coordinated to the right care in an efficient manner.

We are committed to ensuring all patients can access routine appointments by using the method that is most convenient to them. We are not an emergency care service. We have limited capacity for on the day, within 3 days or within 2 week appointments. Where we are at capacity, you will be informed where you can seek alternate support.

Urgent Appointments

We recognise that you may want to speak with Doctor urgently about a medical query. The most effective way is to first complete an eConsult Online Consultation form (only available during opening hours). After careful assessment, an appropriate appointment will be coordinated for you. You can request the clinician you would like to speak with or pick a time of your choosing and we will do our best to match this, depending on availability. We regret that we can not accept emails relating to medical queries.

Extended Appointments

  • If you have multiple problems to discuss please ask for a double appointment. You will be offered a routine appointment so a wait is expected. Please understand that we need the appropriate amount of time to do you justice and assess your concerns appropriately.
  • Please let us know in advance if you need an interpreter so we can coordinate this in time for your appointment.

Home Visits

Please be aware that our GPs will always call to assess the home visit request first.

If you need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 11am.

Telephone: 020 8361 3638

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby.

Tips

Check my Blood Pressure and Weight

If you have been advised to provide a blood pressure or weight reading there are a few options available:

  • Our BP/weight machine is available in the reception foyer area (the best time to use this is around 1pm to 4pm). Please write your name on the ticket and post it in the black post box next to it.
  • You may be able to go to the chemist who offers these checks.
  • You can purchase a Blood Pressure machine online from Amazon (consider it to be a long term investment for your health approx £20). You don't need an expensive one, but make sure it goes on your upper arm and is the appropriately sized (large arms need a large cuff)

If you have been asked to provide serial blood pressure reading as your blood pressure is high (more than 140/90, or more than 140/80 if diabetic or kidney disease) please complete this BP diary log

Give Specimen Samples

If you have been asked to provide a specimen sample (which comes with a pathology form and bag), please can we ask that you provide a fresh sample and delivery it to the surgery before 11.30am. This only applies for urine/ stool or swab samples*. We only have one daily collection that takes samples to the hospital for analysis.

  • If you provide a sample after this time, it may degrade and will not be sent off until the following day.
  • Where you are not able to provide an morning fresh sample, we ask that you keep sample refrigerated until it can be delivered to surgery in the morning.
  • If you have been asked to provide a urine sample for suspected infection, you can collect a urine pot from reception.

*Semen samples need to go straight to the hospital by appointment (and not to the surgery)

Get Help With a Urine Infection

How do I inform the practice?

If you feel you have a urine infection please complete an online consultation form first to help clarify your symptoms to the doctor.

What information is required?

We can not accept urine samples for suspected infections unless it is attached with following information:

  • What urinary symptoms or other are you experiencing to suspect a urine infection?
  • How long have you been feeling unwell with each symptom you describe?
  • Female child bearing age- are you pregnant?
  • What treatment have you tried so far, over the counter or otherwise?
  • Contact details to reach you.

Urine pot

You may then want to collect a urine pot from reception and provide a sample for the clinician to check- especially if you are prone to recurrent urine infections in the past. Please make sure the sample pot itself is clearly labelled with your name and DOB.

Common UTI symptoms in adults and children can be found on the NHS website

Get an Onward Referral Recommendation

If you have been seen by another institution who have provided a letter (eg optician GOS18 form) to forward to practice about an onward referral, please complete eConsult and take a photo of the document to add as an attachment. We may need further clarification before we can act on any requests.

If you have been seen by a NHS specialist at the hospital. They can arrange direct referrals to another department (usually within the same hospital) without involving the practice.

We regret we only accept letters from certain institutions. We can not accept letters from an osteopath/chiropractor in relation to organising scans, for this you would need to book appointment with our First Contact Practitioners for review.
